Jamshedpur, July 10: Light rain is likely at a few isolated places over Jharkhand today as the monsoon has become weak, said weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The monsoon trough at the mean sea level was today passing through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Shantiniketan and thence eastwards to Manipur and extending up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level.
Against a normal of 274 mm, Jharkhand has so far received 166 mm of rain, a deficit of 39 per cent.
Except for four districts- Godda, Garhwa, Sahibganj and Simdega all the other 20 districts figure in the rain losers list.
Ranchi was facing a deficit of 45 per cent while Jamshedpur was facing a deficit of 53 per cent.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre also issued an alert of heavy rain at isolated places over north-eastern parts of the state on Tuesday.
Today’s discomfort index was high at many places including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, Dhanbad and Bokaro.
