Jamshedpur, Aug 31: The monsoon trough which has shifted close to the foothills of the Himalayas in the north was yet to get restored.
Weathermen have therefore predicted restricted rainfall activity over the state on Wednesday and in the next two days.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre also issued an alert of light to moderate thunderstorm activity in isolated areas of Jharkhand today.
The restricted rainfall activity coupled with high humidity has upped the state’s discomfort index.
Most places including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh today recorded high discomfort index – seven to eight points above the normal.
Met figures suggested that the maximum temperature in most parts of the state today recorded two to three notches above normal.
As far as usual rainfall is consent Jharkhand has so far actually received 585.9 mm against a normal of 792.5 mm, a deficit of 26 per cent.
Except for Ranchi, Khunti and three districts of Kolkan – East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela- Kharsawan, the rest of the districts were still confronting deficit rain.
