New Delhi, July 28: The use of the same syringe to deliver the Covid-19 vaccine to 39 children at a private school in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, drew criticism on Thursday. According to district officials, Jitendra Ahirwar, the vaccine distributor, has been the subject of an FIR.
The district immunization officer Shobharam Roshan was suspended today. Earlier, the district collector ordered a departmental investigation and action against district vaccination in response to a report from the CMHO.
The incident happened on Wednesday at Jain Higher Secondary School when parents of some of the pupils witnessed the vaccine provider using the same needle on the kids. A health official reported that the 39 kids, who were all over the age of 15, were in Classes 9 through 12.
District Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. D K Goswami visited the school to look into the situation after the parents’ protest.
