Ranchi, Nov 30: Former Minister Bandhu Tirkey has gotten a big relief from the Ranchi Civil Court in the case of threatening and damaging government property.
The special court of MP MLA has acquitted him due to a lack of evidence.
The case arose after the registration of an FIR against Tirkey at the Kudu police station of the Lohardaga district. The FIR was registered after Tirkey and his supporters demonstrated against a mobile tower installation at tribal religious land.
Tirkey was accused of disturbing the peace, unlawful assembly, threatening and damaging government property.
In the case, the court had issued a permanent warrant on May 10, 2019, declaring him an absconder. Despite a permanent warrant when police failed to arrest Tirkey, the court issued an order to attach his property. On October 15, 2019, Bandhu Tirkey was arrested. Later he was granted bail.
