New Delhi: Leaders across political lines paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on his first death anniversary on Friday, remembering his contributions to India’s economy, democracy, and public life.
Tributes by Congress Leadership
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi visited Dr Manmohan Singh’s residence at 24, Akbar Road, New Delhi, and offered floral tributes. The Congress party also commemorated the occasion through a post on social media platform X, describing Dr Singh as a statesman defined by honesty, humility, and vision. The party stated that his leadership strengthened India’s economy and democratic institutions.

Several senior leaders from different parties joined in paying homage, including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, among others.
Life and Legacy of Dr Manmohan Singh
Dr Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 last year at the age of 92 in New Delhi. His last rites were performed with full state honours at Nigambodh Ghat on December 28. Born on September 26, 1932, he was a renowned economist who served as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1982 to 1985 and as Union Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996. He later went on to serve as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, a decade marked by significant economic reforms and global engagement.
