Ranchi/Dhanbad, July 1: Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta felicitated over a hundred doctors of the state for their outstanding services in health services on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day. The event was organised at Project Bhawan in Ranchi.
Health Minister Gupta on the occasion said, “The state government is serious about the implementation of the Medical Protection Act for the safety of doctors and para-medical staff. The proposal regarding this will be brought again to the cabinet soon. After the approval of the cabinet, the bill will be brought to the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.”
Banna Gupta also called for the amendment of some provisions of the Clinical Establishment Act claiming they were complex and impractical.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary of Health Department, Arun Kumar Singh said if the government doctors want to go out for training, the state will provide appropriate facilities.
The health minister awarded Special Jury Award to four distinguished doctors including Deoghar AIMS director Dr Saurabh Vaishnav, RIMS Director Dr Kameswar Prasad, ex-Director in–chief Dr Praveen Chandra, Dean RIMS Dr Vivek Kashyap and Dr Rajesh of Rani Hospital Ranchi.
Among medical colleges, Dr S K Singh (principal Hazaribagh medical college), Dr Uk Ojha (head of the department of medicine at SNMMCH Dhanbad), Dr GS Baraik (HoD orthopaedics MGMMCH), Dr DK Jha, (medicine department Palamu), Dr Anjali Srivastava (HoD gynaecology MGMMCH) received the awards.
Special awards were also given to four doctors of RIMS Ranchi including Prof Dr Pradeep Kumar Bhattacharya, Associate Professor Dr Rishi Tigga (medicine), Associate Professor Dr Lakhan Majhi (pharmacology), and Assistant Professor Dr Devesh Kumar (PSM).

The health department also selected five top doctors from Community Health Centres (CHCs) of the state for the special award which included Dr Jitendra Mahali (CHC Silli), Dr Amrendra Prasad (CHC Angara), Dr Kameshwer Mahto (CHC Nawadih), Dr Nawab (CHC Kasmar), Dr Mihir Kumar (CHC Jharia) for a special award.

Seven medical officers-in-charge of Naxals-affected CHCs of the state were also selected for a special award. They are Dr Hansda Shobendra Shekhar (CHC Chandil), Dr Shivcharan Hansda (CHC Kuchai), Dr Moiz Akhtar Ansari (CHC Chakradharpur), Dr Shankar Tudu (Ghatshila), Dr Jaishree Kiran Pardhiya (CHC Jagarnathpur), Dr Vinay Kumar (CHC Bagodar), Dr Ranjit Kumar (CHC Tisri).
Among other doctors of the state who received the awards, the health department at Ranchi had the highest number (20 doctors) followed by five from Jamshedpur, four from Dhanbad and three from Gumla.
