National-level shooter Namanveer Singh Brar was found dead in his home in Mohali on Monday morning.

“We cannot conclusively say at this stage whether it is suicide or if it was an accidental fire. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and the report is awaited. Once the report comes, it will help us arrive at some conclusion,” Sandhu said. The police were informed about the incident by the family of the shooter.

Brar, who was prior a student of Panjab University, had won the bronze alongside Ankur Mittal and Asgar Hussein Khan in the double trap team event at the World University Games at Gwangju, South Korea, in 2015.

That very year, he had won a bronze medal in the All India University Shooting Championship and the following year, Brar was once again part of the Indian team winning the bronze medal in the FISU World University Shooting Championship held in Poland.
