Jamshedpur, Aug 10: XLRI Jamshedpur celebrated the ‘National Librarians’ Day’ at Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library in remembrance of the 131st birth anniversary of Late. Dr S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Indian Library Science.
The faculty, staff, researchers, students and library staff members were present on this occasion.
Fr. S. George, director, XLRI garlanded the photo of Dr. S R Ranganathan. Other faculty members paid their tribute.
After this, a formal function was started with a welcome speech delivered by Shabnam Ansari wherein she invited the guests and audience and throw some light on the career journey of Dr S R Ranganathan.
Fr. S. George, director in his speech expressed the importance of the books and shared his own experience about the library and books. Further, he launched the institutional repository developed by the library. He also presented gifts to the winner of the quiz conducted on August 2.
Prof. Sanjay Patro, Dean – Academics, shared his views about the library and its functionality. He admired the library team for their service and also greeted the faculty, staff members, scholars and students who gathered at the formal function. He launched a video of a virtual tour of the library.
