Dhanbad, Aug 29: Jharkhand Prantiya Marwari Yuva Manch felicitated 16 district, state and national medal winners sports persons of Dhanbad and took out a cycle rally to mark ‘National Sports Day.’
The players who were felicitated were:
- Julee Kumari (silver medal winner of Khelo India Youth Games)
- Dharavi and Ruchi Priya (Yoga)
- Badminton players-Sujal Rakshit (national rank), Jaya Chatterji (state rank), Vaibhabi Man (state rank), Shruti (district rank), Udit Dayal (district rank)
- Shambhav Kumar (national Judo)
- Nitu Bauri ( volleyball)
- Abhya Bharti (lawn bowls)
- Sandip Paswan (karate)
- Manish Kumar (sprinter)
- Anita Das (sprinter)
- Renuka (Kho Kho)
- Seema Turi (football)
- Anju Sharma (football)
The felicitation function was organized at Credo World School, Govindpur. Superintendent of Police (rural) Reeshma Ramesan was the chief guest and she along with Nandlal Agrawal (president Jharkhand Prantiya Marwari Manch) felicitated the outstanding sportspersons with certificates, mementoes and shawl.
Cycle rally turned into centre of attraction
For the first time, the Jharkhand Prantiya Marwari Yuva Manch organized a cycle rally to mark National Sports Day.
Over 2000 cyclists of 15 institutions participated in the rally which was flagged off by Nandlal Agrawal at Shakti Mandir, Joraphatak Road and terminated at Credo World School Govindpur after covering 13 km.
The organizer Marwari Yuva Manch provided T-shirts and caps to all participants. They also distributed 75 cycles among meritorious students of weaker sections and presented 750 saplings to the representatives of different educational institutions as gifts for the promotion of the environment.
The chief guest SP Reeshma Ramesan appreciated the step by the organizers for encouraging the sportspersons and organizing the cycle rally on such a large scale for the promotion of the environment.
“It is a major achievement of Dhanbad to organize a such massive rally in the district for a noble cause. It is miraculous,” she said while praising the efforts of Marwari Yuva Manch.
Dhanbad branch MYM Subhash Likhmaniya, Coal City branch president Vikash Patwari, State vice-president Vivek Lilha, state assistant secretary Ajay Tayal, state joint secretary Harish Agrawal and others were present on the occasion.
