Mansa, April 3: Congress politician Navjot Singh Sidhu paid a visit to the late singer Sidhu Moosewala’s Mansa district home to see his parents on Monday. He left his Patiala home at roughly 2.15 p.m. and arrived in Moosa hamlet in Mansa with a few Congress officials.
After spent nearly ten months in prison for an incident of road rage in 1988, the former cricketer-turned-politician was released from Patiala Central Prison on Saturday. On May 29 of last year, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot and killed in Mansa.

When Moosewala joined the Congress in December 2021, Sidhu was in charge of the Punjab branch of the party and referred to the musician as a “young idol.” With a Congress ticket, Moosewala has run unsuccessfully for the Mansa seat in the Punjab Assembly elections of 2022.
Sidhu was imprisoned on May 20 of last year after surrendering to a Patiala court and being given a year of severe imprisonment by the Supreme Court in the 1988 road rage case. May 29 of last year saw the death of Moosewala. His parents, who have been campaigning for their son’s justice, even joined a demonstration last month in front of the Punjab Assembly building.
Sidhu attacked the BJP-led Centre after being released from prison, claiming that institutions have become slaves in the nation and that democracy is in shackles. Moreover, he asserted that a plot was being developed to impose President’s Rule in Punjab.
