The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh on September 18 after his office failed to send a report on the action taken in case of illegal activities and inconsistencies in two shelter homes- Premashraya Shelter Home, Ranchi and Rainbow Fit Facility, Ranchi.
The commission, in its letter, today said that the chief secretary had been apprised of “ a matter regarding inconsistencies and illegal activities found in the functioning of Premashraya Shelter Home, Ranchi and Rainbow Fit Facility, Ranchi.”
He had been asked to take action against them and share the report with the NCPCR by August 20. “However, the report has not been received in response of the said letter,” it added.
NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo, during his visit to Ranchi, on August 1, had apprised Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan of the alleged mismanagement of shelter homes and lapses in providing holistic environment to check issues of child trafficking.
He had visited the shelter home for kids in Ranchi where he is said to have discovered massive corruption and forgery.
