New Delhi, Dec 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (15-year) rule over the civic body came to an end on Wednesday when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and leader of the AAP, requested ‘the Centre’s support and PM Modi’s blessings’ for the improvement of the city after the party’s victory in the MCD elections.
Arvind Kejriwal thanked the Delhi citizens for ‘finding their son, their brother capable of handling MCD’ as he took the podium following AAP’s victory in the civic elections in Delhi.
The Delhi chief minister then urged the opposition parties to band together and work for the expansion and improvement of the nation’s capital.
“I appeal to all candidates and all parties, the politics was till today. Henceforth, we need to work together. I urge the BJP and Congress to work together with the AAP. You are not BJP councillor anymore. You are councillors of Delhi,” Arvind Kejriwal said
“We need the Centre’s cooperation, we need PM Modi’s blessing to make Delhi better,” he added.
He said that they need to work together to end the regime of corruption and underlined the need to end negative politics.
