Jamshedpur, Dec 7: The cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal will not have any significant impact on Jharkhand, said a special bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre this afternoon.
Weathermen said it will only result in temperature variation over the state due to partial cloudiness. Currently, the system is in the form of a deep depression lying over the southeast and adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal.
From tomorrow (December 8 ) early morning, a partly cloudy sky over the south, central and northeastern parts would prevail while towards afternoon, the cloud cover is expected to cover the entire state.
From December 9-11, a partly cloudy sky over the entire state is expected due to the impact of the adverse system over the Bay of Bengal.
Weathermen said the system would result in a gradual rise in night temperature by 2-3 °C from tomorrow, December 8 in the south, central and North-eastern parts of the state and no large change in the north-western parts (Palamu sub-division) till December 11.
The deep depression over Southeast and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal moved west northwestwards with a speed of 15 Kmph during the past few hours and lay centred over southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal, near latitude 8.7°N and longitude 85.7°E, about 500 Km east of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), about 630 km east-southeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), about 690 km east-southeast of Karaikal and about 770 km east-southeast of Chennai.
It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify further gradually into a cyclonic storm (Will be named “Mandous”, the name given by UAE) around this evening and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by tomorrow morning.
It will continue to move west-northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during the subsequent 48- hours.
