Ranchi, May 28: The Child Welfare Association / ATSC Jharkhand chapter organised a workshop on the topic of safety and protection of children in tourist places. On the occasion, guest speaker Sanjay Kumar Mishra, President of Press Club Ranchi said that the society as a whole should work to stop the exploitation of children in present times.

“Media has an important role to do and to create awareness among the people. But today’s media is working less on the safety of children and more on their marketing. The media now-a-days has lost its empathy. It doesn’t think about the impact of certain news on the mental state of the children, they are more focused on their TRP,” Mishra added.

Mishra further added that in such a situation, there is a need to sensitize the media. He said that the media has an important role in the development of the society, considering the possibility of securing the future of the children, thus the need to sensitize them from time to time is of great importance.

Sanjay Mishra, State Head ATSC India while discussing the topic said that work is being done to save children from exploitation in tourist places since some time now, but this is the first time that this topic is being discussed in Jharkhand through a state level programme.

He further added, “To stop the exploitation of children, we need to make the tourist place child abuse free in any case. On this, all the stakeholders of the district should work together so that the exploitation of children can be reduced. We all need to work together to make the children free from exploitation.”

Addressing the programme, the Vice President of Child Welfare Association, Abhijit Ghosh said, “I have been working for many years to stop the exploitation of children, and we have also developed the mining sector as a model for this. As Children are the creators of our future, it is the responsibility of all of us to protect them.”
