Ranchi, July 19: The Director of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has informed that the second branch of the central testing lab has been started in the hospital premise in the cardio section since June 16.
The director said that since the inception of the new lab, around 100 to 200 blood samples are tested on a daily basis.
“We have seen a positive response from the patients and their attendants and the number of samples collected every day for testing in the new lab is also good. We are hoping that the numbers will go up in the coming months,” he said.
He added that this will also help in curbing down the illegal practices performed by a few private lab blood sample collectors who enter the ward of the hospital to collect samples by assuring the patients to give the reports within a few hours.
“Since the hospital now has two testing labs, it will help in delivering the reports at a faster rate and the patients will now not have to wait for three-four days for the reports to come,“ he said.
“The old central testing lab at RIMS has been functional all along and we test around 1400-1500 samples per day. We would like to request patients to kindly not entertain any such people who belong to other private labs and request for blood collection in the ward,” the director added.
