Ranchi, Aug.11: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today felicitated Olympian Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan after they returned from Tokyo.
Both were members of the Indian Women Hockey team which reached upto semi-final creating a history.
The CM gave a cheque worth Rs 50 lakh to each one besides Scooty, Laptop computer and smartphone and promised them houses of 3000 square feet in the city of their choice.
“India missed gold medals but the performance it has given in Olympic matches is not less than a medal,” Soren said while felicitating the hockey stars of the country.
While honouring the stars, the CM wrote a greeting message on their hockey sticks and took their autograph.
Soren said that the way the girls have performed despite having limited resources is praise-worthy and the state is proud of them.
The CM, on the occasion, informed about the steps being taken in the interest of games and players saying players who participated in national and international matches are being given appointments in government services and stadiums are being constructed at the grass root level.
The CM said players sustaining injuries during games will be provided proper medical treatment on government cost and for this provision is being made.
