Niti Aayog releases health index 2021, Kerala tops the list

New Delhi, Dec 27: Niti Aayog on Monday released the fourth edition of its health index, ranking states based on overall health performance.

Kerala was named the best performer, while Uttar Pradesh was named the worst in the list.

The report was divided into three sections: larger states, smaller states, and union territories.

Among the smaller states, Mizoram was the best performer, while Nagaland was the worst.

Chandigarh ranked first among union territories, followed by Dadra and Nagar Haveli at number two and Delhi at number three. According to the Niti Aayog report, Puducherry was the worst overall performer.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand is ahead of neighboring states Bihar, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh and is ranked 13 in the list.

The fourth round of the Health Index took into account the period 2019-20 (reference year).

The Niti Aayog health index is a weighted composite score based on 24 indicators that cover key aspects of health performance.
