Jamshedpur, March 23: Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stone online for the ambitious elevated double-decker corridor on the NH-33 along the steel city. The project worth Rs 1,876 crore is going to be the first such facility in the country.

While addressing a public meeting at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur during the online foundation stone-laying ceremony, Gadkari said the proposed double-decker corridor will not only ease the vehicular communication between Calcutta-Ranchi route but will also augment the beauty of the steel city.

“A facility like the double-decker corridor was a prolonged demand from the Jamshedpur MP, Bidyut Baran Mahto. Keeping the usefulness of such a facility and the contribution of Jharkhand to the development of the country, we decided to meet the demand. But what is a matter of pride for Jamshedpur is this project will be the first of its kind in the country,” said Nitin Gadkari while addressing the gathering.
