Ranchi, Feb 11: No casualties were reported in Ranchi for the eighth consecutive day on Thursday and active cases came further down to 727. As against 49 recoveries, 30 new infections were detected.

The recovery rate, which has been rising steadily in the state, crossed the 98% mark, indicating a drop in the number of active cases as well. The total active cases stood at 2,088 which is 0.48% of the total infections since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Vaccine coverage is also improving, though far behind the target adopted by the state government which missed the January 26 deadline for complete coverage.

The health department said in the 18-plus category, the first dose coverage is around 96% while the second dose coverage is 62%. Coverage is poor in the adolescent group in which out of an estimated population of nearly 24 lakh, 47% have got their first jab while 6.01% have taken their second dose.
