Ranchi, May 18: Different districts around the states have not properly conducted district league football tournaments for the last five years. Many footballers from the state have opted to play for corporate or other states as Jharkhand Football Association (JFA) does not provide amenities to them.
During a press conference on May 17, the president of JFA Mithilesh Thakur said that the status of football in the state will only progress from here on as a new committee has been formed and special attention will be taken to nurture players.
“I agree that from the last five years district leagues have not been conducted properly in the state. However, from now on leagues will be conducted in every district of the state and those clubs which are associated with JFA fail to do so, then strict actions will be taken against them,” he added.
Currently, there are 478 clubs in the State that are registered under the JFA.
He added that Jharkhand has many players who are currently representing the country at different age groups and are attending National Camps that are being held currently.
