New Delhi, Aug 28: Today’s enormous explosion knocked down the Noida Supertech twin skyscrapers. The approximately nine-second explosion ends a nine-year legal conflict between Supertech Emerald Court residents in Sector 93A and the realtor over the two towers.
The mound of debris created by the demolition must now be cleaned up by the Noida authorities after the destruction is complete. Earlier, the operation’s officials had estimated that 55,000 tonnes of debris would be produced. Debris removal could take up to three months.
The trash will be disposed of at designated locations.

In order to prevent the explosion from damaging nearby structures, the area had been evacuated hours before the incident. Traffic diversions were established and instructions were down to tackle any emergencies.
“Broadly, no damage to nearby housing societies. Only some bit of debris has come towards the road. We will get a better idea of the situation in an hour,” said Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari.
More than 3,700 kg worth of explosives were installed in the two towers. Nearly 7,000 holes in the building pillars were filled with explosives, and 20,000 circuits were installed. The explosion was timed such that the towers would fall straight down using a technique known as the “waterfall technique.”
