Daltonganj, Nov 2: An early detection of a gaffe in the setting up of the centres of the examination of BA, BSc and BCom first semester among 18 colleges under the Nilamber Pitamber university has set the university examination department in rectifying mode. The examination starts on November 21.
Daltonganj town has 3 constituent colleges under the Nilamber Pitamber university where it has notified home centres at the GLA college and the YSNM college while another college in the town, JS college, was clubbed with the GLA college, therefore denying its home centre. This led to great resentment among the examinees.
As there is an Examination Act and hence such gaffe in setting up of the examination centre is liable for legal scrutiny, said a college teacher under the condition of anonymity.
Pro vice chancellor of the NPU Dr Deep Narayan Yadav when asked for this gaffe in regard to the clubbing of the JS college Daltonganj with the GLA college, he said, “If two of the three constituent colleges here in Daltonganj have been made home centres then there is no reason to deny this home centre to the JS college Daltonganj. JS college Daltonganj will be the home centre of this coming degree examination.”
Sources said there is another gaffe in regard to the Degree College Manika which has been clubbed with BS college Latehar and the examinees of this college will have to take this BA BSc BCom semester 1 year 2022 examination at the BS college Latehar.
Sources said the examinees of this college will have to travel 23 km up and down for their examination at the BS college Latehar which is not only a time-consuming affair but expensive too for the tribal students.
The professor in charge of the Degree College Manika Dr Bimal Kumar Singh said, “We have 500 plus examinees in all combining the three faculties Arts, Science and Commerce.”
Deep Narayan Yadav, pro vice chancellor of the NPU commenting on this said, “This issue will also be looked into wherein the university will amend to set up a home centre at the degree college Manika while BS college Latehar will continue with its home centre.”
However, sources said one HNH college, Dhurki has its examination centre at the BSM college Bhavnathpur which is at a distance of roughly 40 km.
Similarly, BJP MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi’s college Ma Nagina Shahi college Nagar Untari has its examination centre at the B S M college Bhavnathpur. Pro vice-chancellor Dr Yadav said these are some of the colleges where the number of examinees is very low and hence these colleges have been tagged as big colleges.
Sources said the Examination Act calls for uniformity in the conduct of the examination. Nevertheless, the university has the discretion to set up centres where it finds the conduct of the examination will be smooth and hassle-free.
