Ranchi, June 23: The first edition of the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) will be conducted from July 15 to August 10, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced. The exam dates are July 15, 16, 19, 20, August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10.
“CUET-UG will be spread over 10 days, starting from July 15. There will be no CUET papers on July 17, 2022, due to the NEET-UG and between July 21 and August 3 due to the JEE (Main) exams,” an official notification by NTA said.
Over 11 lakh candidates have registered for the first edition of CUET. The NTA has said that the CUET-UG will be held at different centres located in 554 cities across India and 13 cities outside the country. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the test, the CUET will provide a single-window opportunity to students seeking admission to any central university across the country.
Notably, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jagadesh Kumar had in March announced that CUET scores, and not Class 12 marks, would be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities and that the central universities can fix their minimum eligibility criteria.
He had also clarified that students from state boards will not be at a disadvantage in the undergraduate admission process and the exam will not give a push to the coaching culture.
A total of 43 central universities, 13 state universities, 12 deemed universities and 18 private universities have applied for participating in the first edition of CUET for UG admissions in the 2022-23 academic session.
“As of now, 9,50,804 candidates have registered for admissions to 86 universities out of which there are 43 central universities, 13 state universities, 12 deemed universities and 18 private universities. Candidates can take the test in any of the 13 mediums being offered, select any combination out of 33 languages and 27 unique subjects,” the NTA stated.
On average, a candidate has applied to more than five universities and there are over 54,000 unique combinations of subjects chosen by them, the NTA officials said earlier.
The exam will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode where candidates will have to solve multiple-choice questions (MCQs). It will be held in 13 languages — Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu. Additionally, a candidate can also pick from 19 other languages such as French, German, Japanese, Russian, Bodo and Santhali.
Meanwhile, the registrations for the CUET PG 2022 are currently underway, as announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The dates for registration had commenced from 19 May 2022. However, the last date to register has been extended from June 18, 2022, to July 4, 2022.
Interested candidates can fill out the registration form on the official website cuet.nta.nic.in. The CUET (PG) exam of 2022 will be conducted through Computer Based Test Mode (CBT) and in two languages: English and Hindi. The time duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
