Dumka, Dec 16: One person died and five others received severe burn injuries following a massive blast that occurred in an illegal factory of refining lubricant oil at Aamgachhi village under Rikhiya police station of Deoghar district this afternoon.

According to police, the blast occurred in a big iron tank of lubricant oil the reason for which however was not yet ascertained.

Reports quoting one of the victims of burn injuries said that the fire broke out when the said oil tank was being lifted on a vehicle for transporting to another location where the refining unit was being shifted.

” One person has died and five others have received injuries who have been shifted to the Sadar Hospital,”  Deoghar SP Dhananjay Kumar Singh who along with subordinate officials rushed to the spot after getting the information about the blast, said.

He said that prima facia it appeared that the lubricant refinery unit was running illegally as no one had so far come forward to claim to be its owner.

“The investigation has been started to ascertain whether the unit was running legally or not and that is what exactly led to the explosion,” he said, adding that suitable legal action would be initiated against those found guilty.

A large number of industrial units have mushroomed in the vicinity of the spot of today’s explosion situated along the Deoghar-Dumka road.

“The administration will soon launch a drive to inspect the legal position of all those industrial units situated in the locality and take necessary steps against the violators if there be any.
