New Delhi, Aug 2: The opposition bloc INDIA submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday, urging her to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the Manipur issue in Parliament.
Additionally, they demanded that the Prime Minister go to the violent state to bring about peace.
In the memorandum delivered to the President, 31 opposition leaders also brought up the subject of communal tension in Nuh, Haryana, and said that the Central government was unconcerned with events occurring “barely 100 km from the Prime Minister’s Office.”
Speaking to the media, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the MPs who were part of the group that visited Manipur also briefed the President on the situation in the state and gave their personal accounts.
“We implore you to press upon the prime minister to urgently address Parliament on the prevailing situation in Manipur, followed by a detailed and comprehensive discussion on the matter,” the opposition bloc said in the memorandum.
