Hyderabad: AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly condemned the recent attacks on minority communities in Bangladesh, particularly the killing of two Hindus, calling the violence a violation of democratic and constitutional values, while also expressing concern over incidents of violence within India.
Bangladesh Government Must Protect Minorities
Owaisi said his party unequivocally condemns the killings of Deepu Chandra Das and Amrit Mandal in Bangladesh and supports steps taken by the Government of India to maintain stable relations with Dhaka. He underlined that Bangladesh was founded on the principles of secular Bengali nationalism and is home to nearly two crore non-Muslims. He stressed that ensuring the safety of minorities is the constitutional responsibility of the Bangladeshi government and warned that ongoing incidents go against the country’s foundational values.
Warning Against Exploitation by Anti-India Forces
The AIMIM leader noted that peace and stability in Bangladesh are crucial for India’s security, particularly in the northeastern states. He expressed hope that bilateral ties would improve further after upcoming elections in Bangladesh. At the same time, he cautioned that forces hostile to India, including the ISI and China, could exploit instability in the neighbouring country to their advantage.
Concerns Over Violence Within India
Owaisi also raised concerns about incidents of violence in India, stating that while developments in Bangladesh are troubling, domestic issues cannot be ignored. Referring to the killing of a labourer in Sambalpur, Odisha, and the death of MBA student Angel Chakma in Uttarakhand, he said such cases indicate weakening law and order. He warned that when the rule of law erodes and majoritarian politics dominate, violence and mob lynching tend to rise, and asserted that all forms of violence must be unequivocally condemned.
