New Delhi, Feb 4: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has rejected the Z category security given to him a day after shots were fired at his convoy in UP’s Hapur.
Unknown gunmen are said to have opened fire on Owaisi’s car as he was returning to Delhi from election-related events in western Uttar Pradesh.
He said in the Parliament today, “I don’t want Z category security, I want to be a A category citizen, at par with you all. I don’t fear death. I’ll not remain silent. Please do justice…charge them (shooters) with UAPA. I appeal govt to end hate, radicalization.”
Owaisi also tweeted in Hindi, “Allah (s.w.t) has fixed the time of my death, I will never die because of your killing.”
Earlier on Friday, Owaisi stated that he has never requested security cover and will never do so because the government is responsible for his safety. Even after that, he was given the Z category security cover by the government.
The ‘Z category’ is a 22-person security detail that includes four to six NSG commandos and police officers. The Delhi Police, the ITBP, or the CRPF furnish it, along with one escort car.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 7th February will give a detailed reply in Parliament on the incident of firing on the AIMIM chief’s car.
