Ranchi, Dec. 11: By December 26, 93 out of 96 gas plants installed in government-run hospitals will become functional.
Mission Director of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Ramesh Gholap, told this to Lagatar24.com explaining the plan. He said that presently as many as 80 gas plants are functional.
“As many as 99 gas plants are present in the state. Out of 99, 80 are functional while 19 are not functional. Out of 19, 16 are ours while three belong to private hospitals. I have planned to make 13 of 16 government hospital plants functional by December 26 while targeted to make the remaining three by the end of the third week of January,” NRHM mission director Gholap said.
Earlier, Gholap inspected Sadar Hospital in Jharkhand capital and took stock of its preparedness to face new variant Covid-19, omicron. After his inspection, he told a section of media persons that the hospital is ready with 550 oxygen beds and he has directed the authorities to make the oxygen plant of the hospital operational by December 26. He, on the occasion, directed the concerned agency to complete civil infrastructure, electricity, and pipeline work to ensure optimum use of the hospital, which was converted into a covid centre during the second wave and helped save thousands of lives in the city.
Gholap said he will also inspect other hospitals of the state and for that, he said that he already alerted deputy commissioners to take allied action.
Oxygen plays a vital role to save Covid-19 patients. After its crisis was experienced during the second wave in April this year, the state took a major initiative to avoid such a situation again by installing oxygen plants, and now with the advent of a new variant of the Covid-19 proper steps are being taken to ensure its optimum use in the case of any requirement during third wave being anticipated in coming 60 to 70 days.
