Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif-led cabinet takes oath

Islamabad, April 19: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has sworn in federal ministers and state ministers who will make up newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet. The reciting of the Holy Quran began the oath-taking process.

According to Pakistani media Dawn, the oath was taken by 31 federal ministers and three state ministries.

According to a statement released by the President House, PML-N members Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Miftah Ismail, Javed Latif, Riaz Hussain Pirzada.

Syed Khursheed Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Abdul Qadir Patel, Shazia Marri, Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Sajid Hussain Turi, Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari, and Abid Hussain were sworn in as federal ministers for the Pakistan People’s Party.

Among the newly appointed federal ministers are Muttahida Majlis-i-Asad Amal’s Mahmood, Abdul Wasay, and Abdul Shakoor, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Aminul Pakistan’s Haque and Faisal Sabzwari, Balochistan Awami Party’s Muhammad Israr Tareen

The ceremony was supposed to take place on Monday, but President Arif Alvi declined to administer the oath to the MPs, forcing the government to reschedule it until 11 a.m. Tuesday (today).
