Lahore, April 16: Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari was reportedly attacked violently by PTI and PML-Q MPs on Saturday. He entered the House to begin a session for the election of a new chief minister.
According to reports, government MPs encircled the deputy speaker, who was slapped and dragged across the parliament floor by his hair. As the situation turned violent, Punjab police officials in plain clothes entered the assembly to bring the situation under the control.

Notably, lawmakers from PTI and its ally parties are creating ruckus in the provincial assembly in order to block the vote for the new chief minister as Usman Buzdar has resigned from the post. Mazari was rescued and relocated to the deputy speaker chamber by security authorities. During the event, the official is said to have been injured.
