Peshawar, June 11: Rain, hailstorm and storm are wreaking havoc in the northwestern part of Pakistan. Due to continuous torrential rains, hailstorms and storms on Saturday, 25 people have died so far. While more than 145 people have been injured. All the injured have been rushed to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. There has also been a lot of damage due to rain, hailstorm and storm. Many houses have collapsed and trees and electric poles have also fallen.
According to senior rescue official Khateer Ahmed, the maximum damage due to the rains has occurred in the Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Karak districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In view of the rain, Pakistan’s army is continuously rescuing people from the affected areas. Notably, in the monsoon last year too, more than 1,700 people died due to rain and floods in Pakistan. About three crore 30 lakh people were affected by this and about 80 lakh people were displaced.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the death of people due to rain on Saturday. Along with this, the officers have been instructed to speed up the relief operation. Sharif has ordered the officials to take emergency measures in advance in view of the cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ coming into the Arabian Sea. In order to reduce the impact of natural disasters, the government has allocated US $ 1.3 billion for climate action in its draft national budget. Pakistan’s disaster management agency said the “severe and intense” cyclone is moving towards the south of the country and will bring winds of up to 150 kilometres per hour.
