Palamu admin provides 200 blankets to poor as winter intensifies

Daltonganj, Nov 30: As the winter season is intensifying, the Palamu administration on Tuesday night distributed 200 blankets among the poor, destitute and roadside living daily wagers and sleepers.

Palamu Deputy commissioner Anjaneyulu Dodde and his team comprising Assistant Director Social Security Piyush, SDO Sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah and one more official from the revenue office last night detoured the town and gave away blankets to the poor devoid of any piece of warmer with them to beat the winter at night.

Earlier, the government hospital premise used to be left out of the freebies in the winter. But DC Dodde and his team also made a reach out to the Medinirai medical college hospital in Daltonganj. The DC and his team gave away 10 blankets to the attendants of the indoor patients who spend the night sleeping and awake in partially closed spaces.

Apart from that, the poor who live and earn livelihoods by selling ‘daatun’ and other edible items at the railway station were also provided with blankets. Meanwhile, the needy have urged the DC to begin ‘dry wood burning’ (bonfires) at night at the railway station premise, auto rickshaw stand, bus stand, hospital etc.

Earlier, the state forest trading corporation used to give heavy logs of firewood for burning at night during nights which got discontinued over the last two years.
