Daltonganj, Aug 6: It was no placebo but a pill for the fleet of medical officers led by the principal of the Medinirai Medical College (MMCH) Dr Kamender Prasad and Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar with whom DC Shashi Ranjan had an interaction late Saturday evening.
The pill was more bitter than sweet when DC Shashi Ranjan asked the medical officers to seek permission from him before going on leave said one medical officer who took part in this interactive session and wanted to remain unidentified.
This medical officer further said the DC did not mince any word when he said quite frankly that as DC he has some powers vested to proceed suo motto in the matter of relieving any doctor if found negligent or defiant.
Shashi Ranjan paid focus on the Ayushman Bharat where Palamu has only 35 per cent availability for it. He wanted to know if Palamu is poor then how its poor people are availing health care. He asked the medical officers there to improve the accessibility of the golden cards for the Ayushman Bharat benefit.
Sources said there is a strong need to review the performance of the hospitals empanelled for delivering Ayushman cover as many of the empanelled ones are just exploiting the Ayushman poor.
The DC wanted to know about the poor occupancy of the malnutrition treatment centre in Palamu where the incidence of malnutrition is pretty high but parents feel shy to bring in their malnourished children to the centre for a nutritional reclaim. The malnutrition treatment centre is either incapacitated or ill popular for the treatment of malnutrition it offers.
For the convenience of the disabled, Shashi Ranjan wanted a camp to be held at the community health centre where disability certification can be made further easier and faster.
The two community health centres, one each at Chainpur and Sadar, need more work to be done for the disabled in the matter of certification.
It’s the ‘eye’ that caught the attention of the DC who laid stress for free cataract surgery.
The medical officer attending this interactive session said the DC asked them how he went about cataract surgery in his previous place of posting in Khunti.
The rate of cataract surgery in the Medinirai Medical College is very pathetic and a thorough inquiry into the dismal performance of the eye department will expose the rot in the eye department to the hilt.
Sources said incidents of fire in hospitals across the country come at intervals and here too Shashi Ranjan asked the medical officers to ensure proper electrical fittings in the government health hubs.
The medical officer said no word was said or communicated to us in regard to the proliferation of private clinics, nursing homes and hospitals by tweaking the Clinical Establishment Act.
Sources said after the opening of the English medium school in every mohalla, it is now private clinics or nursing homes sprouting every 2 km in the town.
There are a whole lot of such private clinics or nursing homes or maternity hospitals right on the state highway and national highway and even blocks like Chhaterpur, Pipra etc have more such numbers than the number of eateries.
