Daltonganj, Feb 19: DDC Megha Bhardwaj detected an irregularity in a small MGNREGA scheme in Chainpur. The irregularity was not of any government money siphoned off but one born out of a paucity of economic growth.
One Upender Chowdhury was given a goat shed in the financial year 2020-21 under Rs. 60,000 scheme.
He had to rear one male and four female goats. All the five goats were to be kept in the goat shed. But instead of the goats, Chowdhury was found living in the goat shed with no goats around.
BDO Chainpur Giriwar Minz said, “We went around his living place to find if his goat is there or not but we did not find any bleating there. Chowdhury later confessed that he does not have any goats.
He would have received Rs. 12,400 rupees for buying goats if he hadn’t tricked the authorities like this. Chowdhury was also supposed to put his Rs. 12,400 into the pot, bringing the total cost of the five goats to Rs. 24,800.
BDO Giriwar Minz said that the DDC has asked him to delay in giving the goat money to Chowdhury for his action.
