Daltonganj, June 5: A cycle ride was organised by the Palamu district health society on Sunday to mark the World Environment Day. The cycle rally started from the police line and ended at the Pdt Deendayal Upadhayay Smiriti Bhavan.

Palamu civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar and others rode cycles in the streets of Daltonganj on the occasion.

A former civil surgeon and present district leprosy officer Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav walked in the streets creating awareness about the conservation and preservation of the environment holding a banner for the World Environment Day along with DPM Deepak Gupta, Sukhram Babu among others.

“Cycling is a good exercise and that he would try to come to his office on bicycle twice a week,” Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said.

Taking pride in possessing his own cycle Kumar further said that he loves riding it and when he was district reproductive child health officer here, he would come to his office on a bike.

He said cycling stems carbon emission and helps save us from pollution of both kinds, ie, fuel and noise.

Members of NCC and Nehru Yuva Kendra participated in the event with the officials.
