Daltonganj, Jan 8: A mock drill was conducted in the Sub Divisional Hospital Hussainabad, about 82 kilometres away from here today.
The drill was conducted to test the medical staff’s agility, understanding and grip of the situation in the event of Covid positive patient’s life in a perilous situation.
Civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said that the drill was good but there is a need to have more professional precision.
There was a real siren on an ambulance with a fake patient in it, showing signs of breathing distress. The ambulance drew up in the portico where three health personnel in full PPE rushed to the ambulance and two of them lifted the fake patient. Then the patient was put on the trolley but none of the three bothered to have both the hands of the fake patient safe from rubbing against the wall of the hospital.
The trolley was pulled through the ramp. At this moment, the civil surgeon said the rush of emergency was missing.
The PPE wearing health personnel were finding it quite cumbersome.
The ANM in anti-Covid gadgets comforted the fake patient and put on an oxygen mask.
“We need to fine-tune in the management of the arrival of the Covid patient in distress,” the CS said.
