Ranchi, Jan 8: Around 250 Covid infected patients are admitted in the government and private hospitals of Ranchi out of which none are reported to have any severe symptoms, according to the health officials/
There are over 17,000 Covid active cases in Jharkhand.
According to Dr Pradeep Bhatacharya of RIMS, 35 Covid infected patients are admitted to the New Trauma Centre of RIMS, out of which only 2 are on an oxygen support system which is due to the case of co-morbidity.
“The 2 death cases which were reported yesterday were also due to kidney and heart failure but had Covid infection too. The cases of death due to Covid-19 are very rare and the persons admitted are also with mild symptoms,” Bhattacharya said.
“Both vaccinated and non-vaccinated are getting infected as the new strain is far more infectious than the previous strain, but at the same time, the recovery rate is very high and people are recovering within a week,” Bhattacharya added.
At the same time, Ajit Kumar of Sadar Hospital said that all the 26 patients admitted to the hospital are having mild symptoms and none of them is on the oxygen support system.
“Both vaccinated and non-vaccinated persons are getting infected and from Monday, I will also prepare the report which I did in the second wave to get the numbers clear of whether the infected person was not vaccinated, partially vaccinated or fully vaccinated,” Kumar said.
“The new strain is quite infectious but from my personal experience I can say that the recovery rate has increased,” Kumar added.
On the other hand, the Head of the Microbiologist department of RIMS Dr Manoj Kumar said that both vaccinated and non-vaccinated are getting infected because of the new strain of the virus which is prevalent in the third wave.
“It is difficult to say how many people infected from COVID-19 are vaccinated but the trends suggest that it is a mix of both,” Kumar said.
