Daltonganj, Nov. 18: A one-week-long inter-state football tournament, beginning December 15, has been chalked out in Daltonganj. There is a strong hope of this tournament taking off in the police line Daltonganj if everything remains stable on the Covid pandemic front.

Palamu Police Men’s Association and Palamu Football Ayojan Samiti have geared up to conduct this highly popular game.

Working president of the Palamu Football Ayojan Samiti, K Vijay Shankar, who is the additional superintendent of police (ASP), convened a press briefing in Daltonganj today in this regard.

A press note issued thereafter reads that football teams of Kolkata, UP, Delhi, Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to take part in the tournament. An exhibition match between women footballers of Kolkata and Varanasi is also on the sheet of the tournament.

K Vijay Shankar reminded that Covid 19 has delayed the tournament as it was earlier to be organised two months ago.

Parshuram Ojha, M K Lali, Alok Verma, Vibhakar Narain Pandey and others were present in the press briefing.

The tournament has many taxing issues like travel expenses of the teams, their suitable accommodation, panels of the referees, rooms for the coach coming with the teams, food, local transportation, medical attention if any among others.

Prizes are most important, aside from expenses that the host Palamu Police Men’s Association must bear, such as tournament advertisement, live commentary of matches, functions on the opening and closing days, and others.

The press note is silent if there will be any ticketing for the tournament or it will be a free entry. Sources said that it will be depending upon the number of teams and places from where they come and the budget will be accordingly expensive or highly expensive or moderate.

December 15 to 21 is always a weak Sun week in Palamu when winter becomes severe. However, the craze and enthusiasm for the football matches never get any weaker among the players and spectators.
