Daltonganj, April 9: Chando village under Chainpur police station in Palamu has learnt the value of living in togetherness. In 2018, this village saw a communal riot during the Durga Puja. Many bad things had happened then.
It was then when SDPO Surjit Kumar had had a terrible time there at village Chando.
Today, the SDPO was again in this village with the SDO Sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah who is moving from one place to another to find out the ground reality. Surjit is the longest-serving SDPO here in Palamu.
Sources said the SDO Sadar has made it a point to visit all such places which in the past had communal history. Chando is one such, now a different village that has learnt the wounds of rash passion.
The same village Chando today reaffirms and vows for communal amity and harmony. People of both communities are at peace. There is nothing any malice between the two sides. Time has made them learn the stark realities of life said sources.
Officer in charge of the Chainpur police station Uday Kumar Gupta said the Ram Navami committee here has its tentage close to the place of worship of the other community barely 50 meters between the two and both the communities are too happy to be so close to each other like in the good old past.
Sources said the SDO Sadar Rajesh has done lots of groundwork here for communal amity to remain stronger than ever.
The next stopover of the SDO Sadar and SDPO Surjit was village Baree under the Satbarwa police station.
Baree had a reputation for being such a village where both the communities come out tooth and claw even on the flimsiest of things till the last year.
Rabindra Vishwakarma, a resident of the village Baree told lagatar24.com correspondent today that this time our village will shed off its past image as now we have understanding and respect for each other community.
Rabindra said there is no problem of any kind here in this ongoing festival.
Asked if these utterances of both the communities are not any lip service to which SDPO Surjit said it does not look so. The general atmosphere is of ease.
Sources said the visit of the sub-divisional civil and police officers in the image ridden villages is to ensure peace and harmony remain intact.
