Information coming so far suggests that three young people broke into the Singh family’s home on June 18 in the early hours as Chanda was cleaning up before she left for the temple. Shweta was the first to be killed, followed by her brother, who had come to her aid. Once they knew she had passed away, they attacked Chanda Singh and fled the house.
They locked the house from the inside and the outside, then fled by leaping off the roof. The deceased’s maternal grandpa, who lived just about 500 metres away, was alerted of the incident when neighbours spotted blood pouring out of the house and felt danger. Later, the deceased’s father who lives and works outside of India was also informed.
