Hazaribag, Aug.5: A young man fired six bullets one after the other on one Rajesh Kumar Verma of Badam in Barkagaon, here.
The incident took place in the heart of the town known as Imli Kothi area in a full public view. The Imli Kothi is a populated area and firing in broad daylight that too in a filmy style sparked panic in the area. In this firing, Verma had a miraculous escape as he ran and hid into a shop.
At the time of firing, all the shops were open and a large number of people were present as well as various business activities going on there too. Rajesh said he was on his bike when two bike riding criminals came and started firing on him. “I left my bike and started running on the road. One of the bullets passed close to my shoulder,” he said crying loudly. “I entered into a nearby cement shop to escape from the bullets. The young man who was firing was so angry that he fired at the cement shopkeeper as well. As soon as the operator of the medical shop next to him came out after hearing the sound of gunshots, the mad youth targeted him too and fired bullets. But no one was hit by bullets and all three survived safely.”
Police reached on the spot and started carrying raids. Even footage of CCTVs installed around also scanned. The CCTV footage showed the criminal running behind Rajesh flashing revolver and firing. Police had recovered few empty bullets from the spot.
The youth fled after the pistol was empty. Eyewitnesses said that the incident took place around 1.20 pm. A young man was coming fast from his bike chasing another bike rider from Barkagaon road. Both the youths stopped the bike at the chowk. Then the mad young man coming from behind took out the pistol and started firing. The youth in front hid in the cement shop. Some people also made a video and photo of the young man waving pistol and firing bullets from mobile. Also made it viral on social media.
Meanwhile, MP Jayant Sinha said there is no rule of law in the state. He targeted the JMM-Congress government for this poor law and order. “I will take up this issue with the governor,” he added. Ajsu district president Vikas Rana also said no one is safe in this government.
