Ranchi, June 12: Parents remembered Binay Kumar Mahto on his 19th birth anniversary. Binay is the same boy who on February 5, 2016, was murdered in mysterious circumstances on the Sapphire International School campus in Tupudana. He was a class VII student of the school and only 12 yrs old when he was killed.

His body with multiple injuries was recovered from the entrance of the teachers’ hostel of his school on the intervening night of February 4 and February 5.

A petition demanding a fair probe in the matter before the Jharkhand High Court though police at its level concluded the probe by arresting a Hindi teacher of the school, Nazia Hussain, her husband, and a suspended teacher of the same school Arif Ali and their two juvenile sons and daughter.

According to police, Nazia’s juvenile son, who was a class XI student of the same school, killed Binay for having Binay’s affairs with Nazia’s juvenile daughter, who was a Class V student.

A small family function was organized at his residence in Argora. Parents put a picture of the boy and offered a floral tribute. Cold drinks, potato chips, and Gulab Jamun, the favorite items of the boy were kept before the picture of the boy. Apart from this, an arrangement to feed guests was made.

“Binay is still with us. His picture taken in 2015 represents him. Today he turned 19, ” father Manbahal Mahto said as his mother Kashila Devi echoed her.

“Binay had taken birth at their native village in Chanda Ghasi on June 12, 2003. I still remember the auspicious occasion,” Devi said remembering her son.

“He was fond of fish fry, potato fry, mango pickle, chicken biryani, and boiled egg. The last item he took from us was boiled eggs. The item was given to him on January 31 at 10.30 am at Nakshatra Van, where he had come with his school team for a picnic” she said remembering his favorite dishes of the boy.

Mahto supported Devi. “It was January 31, 2016, when I had lived last time with half a dozen eggs,” Mahto said.
