New Delhi, Dec.22: The Winter Session of Parliament came to a close on Wednesday as both Houses of Parliament adjourned sine die, a day ahead of schedule. The session of Parliament had begun on November 29 and was scheduled to conclude on December 23.

The Lok Sabha held 18 sessions during which important bills such as the Farm Laws Repeal Bill and the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill were passed. The session was disrupted for 18 hours and 48 minutes by opposition members for a variety of problems, including price hikes and violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla claimed the lower house’s productivity reached a new high of 204 percent on December 2.

Meanwhile, following the suspension of 12 opposition party members for “unruly” behaviour during the last session in August, the Upper House had multiple disturbances during the current session.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu stated that the House’s output was much below its capacity. “Members should assess whether we could have done a better job. We should all endeavour to create a positive, constructive environment,” he remarked.
