Ramgarh, Oct 18: Harsh Das, the main accused of gang-rape of a tribal girl with his two friends, was arrested by Patratu police on Monday.

Two other accused youths who were involved in the crime were arrested earlier and have been sent to judicial custody. The three youths are accused of gang-raping a girl from the Urimari area in the Railway Steam Colony area.

Patratu police station in-charge Gautam Kumar said that the main accused Harsh Das and his friends Sanjay Bhuiyan, Arun Bhuiyan are all residents of Patratu Railway Steam Colony.

The incident took place on Oct 8 at an under-construction residence in Railway Steam Colony. The victim had a love affair with Harsh Das. At the behest of Harsh, Sanjay brought the girl to the steam colony where Harsh was present with Arun. Then all three raped the girl. She lodged an FIR against her boyfriend Harsh and others in this case on Sunday, Oct 16.

After the incident, the girl informed her family. Later, an attempt was made to settle the matter. But when things did not work out, an FIR was lodged after eight days.
