Ranchi, Feb 28: Pharmacists staged a sit-in outside the Pharmacy Council of Jharkhand, putting forward five demands against the irregularities happening in the council. During this, people associated with the Pharmacy Association were also present.
The people of the association have made the allegation through various documents. Pharmacists made many allegations of corruption against the examination committee of the council and demanded to change the examination committee as well.
The people of the association said that even after completing all the registration processes, the registration is not being done.
During this, the people of the Pharma Association also alleged that in return for registering, a person named Rahul demands money. The pharmacists have described Rahul as a relative of the registrar of the council.
Amit Kumar, secretary of the All India Pharmacists Association, alleged that the council neither registers nor renews without money. “If the exit exam is conducted through the Pharma Council, then there will be a sure paper leak. The paper was leaked last time also; no action has been taken on that too. So the exit exam should be done at some other level.”
However, Rahul Kumar said that the allegation has been made without any meaning. “No one has given me money, nor have I demanded it.”
Jitendra, associated with the Pharma Association, alleged that the question paper was sold by the council for two hundred rupees. Earlier the degree was taken after studying; now they distribute the degree by taking money. Irregularities also take place in registration and renewal.
The demand of Pharmacy association and pharmacists are as follows:
- Biometrics should be applied in renewal and registration.
- Exit exam for registration should be implemented in the state as soon as possible.
- Action should be taken against fake pharmacists of Jharkhand’s drugstores.
- Registration of Jharkhand Pharmacy Council should be made mandatory for the license of drug shopkeepers of Jharkhand.
- Dissolve the examination committee.
