New Delhi, June 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Munich on Sunday for a two-day visit to Germany. During this time, he will attend the G7 meeting and speak with the leaders of the influential group and its allies about topics including energy, food security, counterterrorism, the environment, and democracy.

Following an invitation from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister Modi will attend the G7 conference on June 26 and 27. Germany, the chair of the G7, an association of the seven richest countries in the world, is hosting the summit.

“An early morning touchdown in Munich… PM @narendramodi will participate in the G7 Summit. Later this evening, he will also address a community programme in Munich,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted.

The Ukraine conflict, which has sparked geopolitical unrest and exacerbated a worldwide food and energy crisis, is slated to be the main topic of discussion among the G7 leaders.

On the fringes of the G7 conference, PM Modi will meet with the presidents of the G7 and the guest nations for bilateral talks, according to Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Friday.

Along with inviting Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal, and South Africa as guests for the summit, Germany, the G7 Summit’s host nation, also recognised the democracies of the global south as allies.
