PM Modi chairs meeting on cyclone-related situation in country

New Delhi, Dec 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting on the cyclone-related situation in country.

The meeting was held amid the alert over the formation of Cyclone Jawad over the Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Metrological Department (IMD), the cyclone is likely to reach the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast on the morning of December 4, with wind speeds ranging from 90 kmph to 100 kmph, accompanied by heavy rainfall and tidal waves from December 3 to 5 in the coastal districts of these states.

Earlier on Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba reviewed the preparedness of Central ministers agencies and state governments in the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) meting to deal with the situation arising out of the impending cyclone in the Bay of Bengal.
