New Delhi, Sep 22: A day after Parliament passed the women’s reservation bill; Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the female BJP workers at the party headquarters in Delhi on Friday and stated that he had “fulfilled his commitment.”
“The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is not an ordinary law. This is a proclamation of the New India’s democratic commitment. This is an evidence of the Modi’s guarantee of women-led development,” the Prime Minister declared today in a speech to female BJP members in Delhi.
He congratulated India’s female citizens and declared that he fulfilled the commitment for which the country had been waiting for years.
“Today, I want to congratulate every mother, sister, and daughter of India. On the 20th and 21st September, we all witnessed history being made. We are fortunate that the citizens of India gave us the opportunity to create history. This decision will be celebrated by the generations to come. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was passed with a great majority in the parliament,” said PM Modi.
The decision will be discussed for many decades to come, Prime Minister Modi stated in his address to the female BJP workers.
“Nari Shakti Vandan Act has been passed by both the houses of the Parliament with an overwhelming majority. The dream that the country was waiting for the last several decades has now come true,” PM Modi said.
Additionally, he praised political parties and parliamentarians for their votes in favour of the bill.
“When you have honest intentions and transparency in your efforts, problems can be overcome, and results can be ensured. This, in itself, is a record that the law was supported by nearly everyone in the new parliament. For this, I want to thank every political party and the members of parliament,” PM Modi added.
The Rajya Sabha voted unanimously in favour of a historic bill on Thursday that would reserve one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women.
All 214 of the parliamentarians present in the Rajya Sabha voted in favour of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam on Thursday, in contrast to the Lok Sabha, where two of the 456 members present had cast a vote against it.
