New Delhi, Aug 7: The nation’s capital’s Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre hosted the seventh meeting of Niti Aayog’s governing council, which was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Two prominent figures are skipping the meeting, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and K Chandrashekar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana.
In a previous letter to PM Modi, KCR said that his choice was a protest against what he called the Center’s alleged flagrant prejudice against states like Telangana. Nitish Kumar is skipping an event hosted by the PM for the second time in a month, having just recovered from COVID-19.
The Governing Council hasn’t met in person since July 2019 until this meeting. All chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and a number of Union ministers make up the Council, which is the NITI Aayog’s governing body. The head of NITI Aayog is the prime minister.
Crop diversification, achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses, and agri-communities, execution of the National Education Policy for K–12 and higher education, and urban governance are all on the agenda for the Niti Aayog meeting.
