New Delhi, Jan 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the new Circuit House near Somnath Temple in Gujarat via video conferencing.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony PM Modi said, “after Independence, new construction took place only for a few families from Delhi. We have brought the country out of this narrow thinking and are building new national monuments and adding glory to the existing ones.”
“In the last 7 years, the country has worked relentlessly to realize the potential of tourism. The development of tourist centres is not just a part of a government scheme, but a campaign of public participation,” said PM Modi.
“The circumstances in which the Somnath temple was destroyed, and the efforts made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the renovation of the temple, both have a big message for us. The contribution of tourism to the economy of our country is very big,” he added.

Notably, the new circuit house, which cost over 30 crore to construct, is located near the famed Somnath Temple.
The government claimed in a statement that it has top-of-the-line amenities, including VIP and luxury rooms and suites, a conference room, and an auditorium hall. The landscaping has been done in such a way that every accommodation has a view of the sea, according to the announcement.
The need for a new circuit house was felt because the current government building was too far away from the temple, according to the PMO.
In August of last year, the Prime Minister launched numerous projects in Somnath and lay the foundation stone for Parvati Temple in an effort to boost religious tourism in the country.
